YSL Volupté Sheer Candy Glossy Balm #5 Mouthwatering Berry

I have been searching for a few weeks for that perfect lip colour for Fall and didn’t know that it was going to be as hard as it was to find it. I absolutely love dark colours on the lips (bordeaux anyone?) but unfortunately against my very pale skin I feel like they are very hard to pull off. So while browsing through some lipsticks in Sephora I came to the YSL display and was taking a look through their shades. On a whim I went ahead and swatched a really dark red, almost black colour onto my arm and was surprised at what I saw. The dark, scary colour actually turned out to be a gorgeous berry shade that even my boyfriend liked. Win!
I have purchased one of YSL Sheer Candy lipsticks in the past (review here) and I already love the formula of them so I knew that this shade would be no exception. When searching for my Fall lip colour I wanted something that was more on the sheer side rather than opaque so it would be more forgiving on my skin tone. I wanted a nice berry shade that didn’t lean too purple but still had that nice deep, rich colour. The YSL Volupté Sheer Candy Glossy Balm in #5 Mouthwatering Berry was exactly what I had envisioned in my mind and I couldn’t be happier with it.
The Sheer Candy lipstick has a very balmy texture that glides over your lips in a effortlessly luxurious way, gives you a sheer wash of colour and even adds a bit of moisture to your lips. The smell of these lipsticks is absolutely divine and I get really excited every time I go to apply them because the pleasant mango scent that is to die for. With this shade in particular I have to make sure that I exfoliate my lips prior to using it because unlike my Sheer Candy in #5 because this shade does tend to stick to the dryer parts of your lips and makes them a bit more noticeable. Not a big deal however as it’s part of my usual morning routine. I do have to mention that if you are a fan of long lasting lipsticks then this one won’t be for you. I do find that this shade stains my lips a little bit so even after it starts to wear off it’s not as noticeable as it leaves a trace of the colour behind.
I am so happy that I went ahead and swatched this colour because I am going to be rocking this lipstick all Autumn and Winter. I now know to swatch colours that I wouldn’t normally go for because I might just be pleasantly surprised at the outcome like I was with this shade. So if you’re looking for a nice berry shade for the A/W seasons and want something more sheer and moisturizing definitely give this one a swatch. I’m sure you’ll love it as much as I do! The YSL Volupté Sheer Candy Glossy Balms retail for $36 CAD and are worth every penny. You can purchase this gorgeous lipstick here.
