Makeup Geek Lipsticks Review
Hilary | On 28, Sep 2013
Hi guys. I hope you don’t mind that this is yet another lipstick post but I had to share this review with you! It’s no surprise that I am a huge lover of lipsticks. I have an ever growing collection which I adore, and I can never seem to get enough of them! I love how there are so many different formulas, colours, and textures to choose from and a lipstick can change your whole look effortlessly. I was sent 3 of Makeup Geek’s lipsticks to try out and I am very excited to share my thoughts on them with you today!
When purchasing a lipstick I generally like to go for neutral colours that are great for every day wear, and that also have a nice creamy consistency. I’m not a huge fan of matte lipsticks because they can tend to be very drying on my already dry lips, so creamy textures seem to be the way to go for me. I have seen Marlena use these lipsticks in a ton of her videos and she always says that they are creamy and long lasting which is exactly the truth.
The lipsticks just glide effortlessly over my lips and don’t tug or feel drying. One layer will give you a nice wash of colour and two will bring you to full opacity which is fantastic. The formula, even though very creamy, does not settle into the lines of my lips or exasperate my dry lips. I have some lipsticks that really make the dryer parts of my lips stand out and it’s not a good look. These just glide over, give great pigment, and just melt into the lips. They have a bit of a tacky texture, but not at all sticky and they last for hours on your lips even through drinking.
Left to right: Delightful, Foxy, Captivating
Delightful is a stunning warm muted pink with peach undertones. It’s definitely more on the darker side, not at all bright, and is a very natural colour. It is a great lipstick to bring together a bright, colourful eye or even to balance out a dark, smokey look. It is one of those colours that will go with pretty much anything and you can just swipe it on and go.
“This brilliant pink lipstick will have a delightful effect on everyone around you. And, with its delicious shade and creamy finish, this color is not just delicious, it’s sinfully good!” – MakeupGeek
Foxy is a medium hot pink and is sure to gain your admirers. It is a really stand out colour and looks absolutely gorgeous on. The red is definitely prominent in this shade and is good for those who wast to venture into red lipstick, but not go full on red. This colour will be perfect for the Fall season! Out of the three lipsticks this is my favourite.
“Want to add a touch of spark to your look? Then this is the color for you. This sultry pink/red shade is perfect for a night on the town with the girls or that special someone. Either way you are sure to look foxy.” – MakeupGeek
Captivating is a bright, warm orange shade. This colour would look perfect on medium, to dark skin tones. On my pale skin it’s not the most flattering colour, but I still think that it’s gorgeous nonetheless.
“What’s more appealing than soft, luscious lips…nothing! And this creamy orange color will have every eye in the room on you. So pucker up, because wearing this color will have captivating effects!” – MakeupGeek

I am so impressed with the quality, texture, and pigmentation of these lipsticks that I can’t forget to mention one other thing I am impressed with.. the price! How Marlena was able to create such amazing lipsticks and only charge $6.99 for them I do not know, but I am thankful! If you are looking to venture into wearing lipstick, or even just to add to your collection you need to get these lipsticks. The lipsticks come with 1.8g of product, and will last you quite a long time.
Regrettably I have to mention that there was one problem with one of the lipsticks I received. Captivating had broken right deep down in the tube, so when I applied it for the first time it came tumbling out. This tends to happen with lipsticks that have a very creamy formula, but luckily I know how to fix it! If you want to know how to repair broken lipstick so that it’s good as new once again read my previous post here.
Quick tip: Be careful not to extend the lipstick out too much when you are applying it to avoid your lipstick from breaking.
