January Ipsy Glam Bag
Hilary | On 26, Jan 2013
I’ve always been intrigued by monthly subscription beauty boxes. I love that you can try out sample sized products before you commit to purchasing their full size for a low monthly fee. I’ve read countless reviews of different companies offering this service, many putting amazing products in the boxes and me wishing I had of signed up. I recently said to myself “Okay, I’m just going to go for it” and signed up for Ipsy’s glam bag. Here’s what I received in my first ever monthly subscription bag:
Nailtini Lacquer – Bloody Mary
Big Sexy Hair – Spray & Play Hair Spray
Josie Maran 100% Pure Argan Oil
Pacifica Tuscan Blood Orange Body Butter
Soho Concealer Brush
I’ll start off with the bag. It’s plain navy on the outside, but when you open the bag it is lined with these adorable little stars- pretty cute, right? After opening the bag I instantly noticed the size of the products inside. They are a really good size, larger than any other subscription box I’ve seen and I am really impressed. I like how they had a good selection of products, and didn’t just stick to one thing like makeup or skincare. Now as for the products themselves, I wasn’t overly excited about some of them.
The Nailtini nail polish applies really nice and evenly, however I never wear red nail polish. I could still maybe get some use out of it however for nail art, but I would have preferred the nude shade. The next two items I think I may give away to a friend or family member because I just don’t want or find a need for them. The Pacifica body butter I find personally has a very odd smell to it. I applied it to my hands for the past few days but I just can’t get over the smell. I have other moisturizers that I’ll be reaching for more. I don’t have a need for the Big Sexy Hair hair spray. I hardly ever use hair spray (if at all) and I think I may give it to someone who will get some use out of it. The Soho Concealer brush is decent. It’s a good size for getting under your eyes when concealing dark under eye circles. The last product is the one I was most excited about- the Josie Maran 100% Pure Argan Oil. I’ve been wanting to try an argan oil for quite some time and I will definitely be getting some use out of this. That product alone pays for the bag itself, so for $15 CAD you definitely get your moneys worth with Ipsy’s Glam Bag. I’m eager to see what will come in next months bag, hopefully I can get more use out of the products in that one. All in all though, not bad. Definitely worth trying out!
What did you think of this month’s Glam Bag? What was your favourite item?
